Download the zip and put it in your resourcepacks folder. You do not need to unzip it.

3 · ORANGE ITEM FIX — use with minimal (or full blue)

Add this second zip in the same datapacks folder. Both enabled in Data Packs. Fixes give commands / right-click items on 26.3.

4 · FULL ITEMS DATAPACK (blue) — all items

Uses datapack format 121 (required on 26.3). Old format-88 zips cause Safe Mode. One blue zip only in datapacks — not in resourcepacks.

Put the zip in your world’s datapacks folder Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves/<World name>/datapacks
Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\saves\<World name>\datapacks
Tip: Singleplayer → your world → Edit → Open World Folder → open or create datapacks.

Safe Mode? A datapack in that world failed to load. On the popup choose Back to Title, not Safe Mode. Safe Mode turns every datapack off, so the disc and items will not work. Then open the world folder, delete everything in datapacks, and put back only one items zip: the new teal minimal zip or the blue zip, not both, and not the green zip. The green zip goes only in resourcepacks. Open the world again.

Mac install (step by step)

Download both zips from this page (green + blue buttons).
Resource pack: Finder → press Cmd + Shift + G → paste:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/resourcepacks
Drag custom-mob-pack.zip in. Do not unzip it.
Open Minecraft → Options → Resource Packs → enable My Pack.
Datapack: Minecraft main menu → Singleplayer → select your world → click Edit → Open World Folder.
In that folder, open or create a folder named datapacks.
Drag custom-items-datapack.zip into datapacks. Keep it as a .zip — do not double-click to open it.
Rejoin your world. You should see: [My Pack] Items datapack loaded!
Problems? Cheats on → /function v3719:diagnose (step-by-step check).
Craft 1 paper for the Thunder Hammer, paper + redstone for the Laser Blaster, or paper + iron + redstone for the Cool Blaster.

No green message? Type /datapack list in chat (cheats on). You should see [file/custom-items-datapack.zip].
Still stuck? Turn on cheats → /function v3719:give_all

Full diagnostic (before you re-download)

Site build … · Java 26.2 or 26.3 only · Bedrock cannot use datapacks.

Main menu bottom-left must say Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 or 26.3.
Green zip → resourcepacks only · Blue zip → world datapacks only · never swap folders.
Remove all zips from datapacks (orange, purple, green, old blue). Copy in only a fresh blue zip — open world (no Safe Mode).
Then add orange zip, /reload, /function v3719:diagnose (orange pack must be enabled).
World → Edit → Allow Cheats ON → Data Packs → blue pack on the right → Play (not Safe Mode).
In world: /datapack list → must show [file/custom-items-datapack.zip].
/function v3719:diagnose → follow chat steps (tests green pack + hammer give).

What each result means

Safe Mode / won’t load: wrong zip in datapacks, or old blue zip — delete all datapack files, download fresh blue only.
“Items datapack loaded!” never appears: datapack disabled or Safe Mode — fix Data Packs screen.
Plain sticks but world opens: add orange Java 26 fix zip + enable green My Pack.
Purple/black block model: green resource pack missing or off.

“Datapacks are preventing you from loading”?

Safe Mode on Java 26.3 means a datapack failed to load. The usual causes are an old format 88 zip, the green resource pack sitting in datapacks, or both the blue and minimal zips in that folder. Use one fresh format 121 zip only: blue or minimal.

Plain sticks? Enable green My Pack in resource packs, then /function v3719:diagnose.

Fastest fix: open your working world → Edit → Open World Folder → datapacks → copy custom-items-datapack.zip from there into the broken world’s datapacks folder (replace the new one).

On the error screen, choose Back to Title Screen (not Safe Mode yet).
Singleplayer → your world → Edit → Data Packs → move custom-items-datapack to the left (disabled) column → Done.
Edit → Open World Folder → open datapacks.
Delete anything named custom-mob-pack (wrong zip). Delete old custom-items-datapack folders if you unzipped by accident.
Put a fresh blue custom-items-datapack.zip in datapacks (download again from this page).
Edit → Data Packs → enable custom-items-datapack on the right → Play (normal, not Safe Mode).

Bottom-left of the Minecraft main menu must say Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 or 26.3. Older versions cannot load this datapack.

Safe Mode or “no functions”?

Safe Mode turns off every datapack. That is why /function v3719:give_all does nothing and the function list looks empty.

Leave the world. On the main menu: Singleplayer → select your world → Edit (pencil).
Turn Allow Cheats ON (needed for give commands).
Click Data Packs → move custom-items-datapack to the Selected column (right side).
Click Done, then Play — choose normal Play, not Safe Mode (only use Safe Mode if the world will not open otherwise).
In chat, run /datapack list. You should see [file/custom-items-datapack.zip].
Run /function v3719:give_all (type the full name; tab may not show it until the pack is loaded).

When it works, you get a green message: [My Pack] Items loaded! on join. Mob textures only need the green resource pack zip; custom items need both zips.

Java Edition 26.2–26.3 only. Bedrock (iPad, phone, Switch) cannot use these datapacks.

Install (Windows or Mac)

Download custom-mob-pack.zip above.
Open your resourcepacks folder:
Windows: press Windows + R, type %appdata%\.minecraft\resourcepacks
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/resourcepacks
Delete any old custom-mob-pack folder from failed tries.
Copy the zip file itself into resourcepacks (do not unzip).
Open Minecraft → Options → Resource Packs → enable My Pack.

Or drag into Minecraft

Open Minecraft → Options → Resource Packs.
Drag custom-mob-pack.zip into the Minecraft window.
Click Yes, then move My Pack to Selected.

Custom items (Hammer, Blasters, Super TNT, Chess Board)

New items need both downloads: the resource pack (look) and the datapack (item exists in-game).

Enable My Pack in Resource Packs (steps above).
Open your world → Edit → Open World Folder → open the datapacks folder.
Put custom-items-datapack.zip in datapacks (zip is fine).
Rejoin the world or run /reload.
Thunder Hammer — craft 1 paper, or /function v3719:give_testblock. Hold right-click to shoot lightning.
Laser Blaster — craft paper + redstone, or /function v3719:give_blaster. Hold right-click to shoot red lasers.
Cool Blaster — craft paper + iron ingot + redstone, or /function v3719:give_cool_blaster. Hold right-click to shoot small black bullets. The Laser Blaster still shoots red lasers.
Super TNT — craft TNT + 2 gunpowder, or /function v3719:give_super_tnt. Hold right-click to place a 3x3x3 block that explodes.
Chess Board — craft white wool + black wool + stick, or /function v3719:give_chess_board. Hold right-click to place a playable chess board. Click a piece, then click where to move it.
Sand Castle — /function v3719:give_sand_castle. Add your BBModel + texture — see Sand Castle setup.
Beating the Game (orange disc) — craft paper + gold ingot, or /function v3719:give_beating_the_game.
The Old Country (teal disc) — craft paper + copper ingot, or /function v3719:give_old_country.
Having Fun (purple disc) — craft paper + amethyst shard, or /function v3719:give_having_fun.
Need a Brake in Minecraft (yellow disc) — craft paper + honey bottle, or /function v3719:give_need_a_brake.
Pizza (gold disc) — craft paper + baked potato, or /function v3719:give_pizza.
Get everything: /function v3719:give_all
Check your item: /function v3719:check_item

Purple block? Re-download the green zip and enable My Pack.
Items not working? Re-download both zips, then /reload and get fresh items with the give commands above.

How to get updates (camel, new mobs)

Fully quit Minecraft (not just leave a world).
Open resourcepacks folder.
Delete the old custom-mob-pack.zip and any custom-mob-pack folder.
Download a fresh zip from this page (check the mob count on the download card matches this page).
Put the new zip in resourcepacks.
Reopen Minecraft → Resource Packs → enable the pack. The name should say My Pack v… with the mob count from this page.

Camels only appear in desert villages — use /summon camel in a test world to check the texture.

Still not working?

Must be Minecraft Java Edition (Launcher app) — not “Minecraft for Windows” from the Microsoft Store.
Use 26.3 or newer stable Java (26.2 still supported). Version is shown bottom-left on the main menu.
Fully quit Minecraft and reopen after adding the pack.

Important: This pack is for Minecraft Java Edition only (Mac/PC launcher). Bedrock Edition (iPad, Switch, phone) uses a different format and will not work with this download.

Updates: Minecraft does not auto-update packs from the internet. When I add a new mob, download the zip again from this page and replace your old pack in resourcepacks.
